Setting up

After creating your account there is a short setup, then a checklist that keeps track of what is left.

The setup steps

Three short steps: your name, your phone number, and your preferences, meaning language and light or dark theme.

All of it is optional, and each step has a Skip. Nothing here gates the app, and none of it is needed before connecting an account. A display name changes how Gylder addresses you; a phone number is contact detail, not verification.

You can change any of it later under Settings.

The getting-started checklist

Afterwards, a checklist tracks the things that actually make Gylder useful:

• Connect your first bank account
• Connect an investment or crypto account
• See your net worth
• Take the dashboard tour

It shows your progress and disappears when complete.

You can dismiss it early. Doing so warns you that not everything is connected and tells you it can be restored from Settings, which is worth knowing: dismissing is reversible.

Bank connections are not available yet, so that item cannot be completed until they open. Do not read an incomplete checklist as something you got wrong.

The order that works

Connect an account before anything else. Gylder is empty until then, and every screen is more comprehensible with real numbers in it.

Depending on what you hold, that is importing a DeGiro CSV, connecting a crypto exchange, adding something by hand, or adding a property.

Then read your dashboard, which explains what appeared.

Filters and tags can wait. They are worth setting up once you have enough holdings to want slicing, not before.

The tour

The dashboard tour walks through what each part of the dashboard is showing. It can be replayed at any time from Settings, so dismissing it costs nothing.
